VINTAGE MIKADOS MOVED

The Cowcatcher Round Up has a pictorial look at a pair of vintage Mikado steam locomotives that got new homes in May. Texas & Pacific No. 400, known as "The Moccasin" because it ran the flooded waters of the Red River from 1958-63, made a crosstown move in Marshall, TX, to a new spot at the T&P Railway Museum. In a less spectacular move, ex-Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) Mikado No. 771 was moved by the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in Grapevine, TX. See the Cowcatcher Round Up for more details.

SHOWCASE

In the November/December 2007 and January/February 2008 issues of the Cowcatcher Round Up discover what remains of Wacos' railroading past, when the Central Texas city was once a busy hub for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and a classification point for the Cotton Belt.
